Tribratanews.polri.go.id – Jakarta. The government of Indonesia called the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to become a more united, adaptive, and beneficial organization for both its members and the world. This message was conveyed by the Director of Multilateral Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Tri Haryat during the OIC 49th Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers in Nouakchott, Mauritania on Monday (20/3/23).

To this end, he encouraged four issues. First, the women’s rights issues. He urged the OIC to prioritize women’s rights issues by taking concrete steps to improve the situation of women, including advocating for their right to education and other freedoms.

“OIC has to be at the forefront of the agenda,” he emphasized.

Second, he highlighted the importance of the OIC’s role in addressing the situation in Afghanistan by putting pressure on the Taliban government to revoke policies that restrict women’s rights and ensure that they are given equal opportunities for growth and development.

Third, he underlined the importance of OIC to support Palestine’s independence.

“The OIC must take concrete steps to help Palestine during Israel’s colonization and oppression,” he said.

Fourth, he stressed the significance of reinforcing cooperation among the OIC member states to promote their welfare in several areas, including vaccine development, disaster management, and the halal industry.
