"PT Pertamina has adjusted the price of general fuel oil in order to implement the Ministerial Decree," reads the official announcement of PT Pertamina on their official website, Friday, September 30, 2022.
Likewise, the price of Pertamax Turbo also dropped from Rp15,900 to Rp14,950 per liter.
However, the Dexlite oil price rose to Rp17,800 from the previous Rp17,100 per liter, and the price of Pertamina Dex also increased from Rp17,400 to Rp 8,100 per liter.
Meanwhile, outside Jakarta, there are differences in fuel prices in several regions of Indonesia. For example, the price of Pertamax in the provinces of Maluku, North Maluku, Papua and West Papua fell to Rp14,200 per liter from the previous Rp14,850 since September 3, 2022.
The decline in domestic fuel prices was partly affected by the weakening of world oil prices on the global market. On a quarterly basis, commodity prices fell for the first time in 2 years.
The weakening of crude oil prices was influenced by market concerns regarding the economic slowdown and the strengthening of the US dollar. Bloomberg noted that on Friday, September 30, 2022, the price of West Texas Intermediate (WTI) oil fell 23% during the third quarter of this year.
The decline in oil prices was mainly due to the commitment of the United States central bank or the Fed to continue to increase interest rates to control inflation. This triggered market concerns regarding the prospect of future oil demand.
