Joint Team Continues to Search for Landslide Victims in Natuna

Tribratanews.polri.go.id – Natuna. A joint team comprising of local authorities, the Indonesian Military, the Indonesian National Police (INP), the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), and volunteers, has been intensifying efforts to search for 35 missing people following the landslide in Serasan Island, Natuna Regency, Riau Islands.

“As of Thursday, March 9, 2023, 21 victims have been evacuated by the joint team. Hopefully, the weather on Serasan Island remains favorable, allowing the team to conduct the search and rescue operation to the best of their ability,” Police Superintendent Nanang Budi Santosa, the Chief of Natuna Sub-Regional Police, said on Thursday (3/9/23).

In addition to the search and rescue efforts, a trauma healing team consisting of three policewomen was also present at the site. The team has been working to provide emotional support to the 1,216 victims in the four evacuation centers, building a sense of togetherness and community support during the natural disaster.

The police chief appealed to the community to join in prayer, requesting favorable weather conditions that would allow the search and rescue operation to continue without any problem.
