Tribratanews.polri.go.id – Jakarta. During the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (FMM) in New Delhi on Thursday (2/3/23), Retno Marsudi, RI Minister of Foreign Affairs, stated that the G20 Forum should be at the forefront in giving humanitarian assistance, both individually and collectively.

“This forum must maintain its focus on creating prosperity and welfare,” the Minister said in explaining the reason.

Highlighting the pressing issue of humanitarian crises in wars and conflicts in Myanmar, Afghanistan, Palestine, and Ukraine, she expressed the need for immediate action and solution.

Particularly for the Palestine crisis, she went on to criticize the lack of attention. “During the opening of the Human Rights Council Meeting in Geneva a few days ago, not a single speaker mentioned the issue of Palestine. This injustice must be ended immediately,” she said.

She stressed the importance of strengthening disaster management, including prevention and readiness efforts. Coming from a disaster-prone nation, she understands the significance of such measures and is prepared to share its knowledge and experiences with the world.

In her closing remarks, she urged the G20 Forum to prioritize the expansion of social protection, the maintenance of economic stability, and efforts to tackle climate change with the commitment to implement the international commitments to disaster risk reduction and climate change, such as the 2030 Agenda, the Paris Agreement, and the Sendai Framework.
