Tribratanews.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The conversion of oil-fueled (BBM) or conventional motorized vehicles is believed to be able to boost the ecosystem of electric vehicles in Indonesia. For this reason, the Traffic Corps of the National Police supports the conversion of fuel based vehicles to electric based vehicles.

"We are more than ready to support this program and even Metro Jaya Police itself has converted more than 50 vehicles in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources," explained the Head of National Police Traffic Corps Inspector General Firman Shantyabudi at the Electric Vehicle Funday event at HI Roundabout, Jakarta, Sunday (11/20).

He explained that administratively, the converted vehicles will later given a certain letter to the electric vehicles in the Vehicle Registration Certificate(STNK) and Motorized Vehicle Ownership Book (BPKB). However it has not been implemented until it was approved by the Ministry of Transportation and Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM).

As reported by ntmcpolri.info, Inspector General Firman Shantyabudi appealed, the fuel based vehicles that are converted to electricity are not stolen goods or crimes. Because, if the vehicle is converted to electricity is the result of a crime, the validation of the vehicle will be difficult.

"Of course the vehicle that will be converted is not reported as stolen or lost goods. So, we immediately propose or issue the new STNK/BPKB. So that this program can be implemented directly, "said Chief of the Traffic Corps.
