Tribratanews.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the DPR RI, Ahmad Sahroni, supports the rapid steps taken by the Police in preventing the spread of foot and mouth disease (FMD) in livestock.

The instructions issued by the National Police Chief (Kapolri) to Sahroni are considered as Polri's commitment to preventing the spread of FMD, which has been found in several provinces in Indonesia. Furthermore, the Nasdem Party politician considered that if there was no quick action by the Police, this disease would spread more quickly.

Previously, to prevent the spread of FMD, Kapolri instructs all his staff to coordinate with the Livestock Service Office in each region. The goal is so that the personnel can react more quickly if there are livestock affected by FMD.

Even if necessary, the livestock could be locked down in an area. This is to prevent the spread of the disease to other areas due to the movement of livestock.

According to a communications expert, Rahnat Edi Irawan, the steps of the Police should also be followed by other institutions, so that the strategies that have been implemented can be effective in the field.

"The Police can only work if the Livestock Service Office has accurate data on the spread of FMD. If the data is available, it will be easy for the Police to help isolate the area," said the Lecturer of Communication Studies at Binus University, Jakarta.
