Tribratanews.polri.go.id - Ilaga. The Head of the Papua Regional Police, Inspector General. Pol. Mathius Fakhiri said that the armed criminal group (KKB) had burnt down four residents' houses located in Kago Village, Ilaga District, Puncak Regency, Central Papua, Friday (28/4/23).

From the report received, the Papua Regional Police stated that the arson carried out by KKB occurred at around 15.28 WIT, but there were no casualties in the incident because the condition of the house was uninhabited or empty.

"Indeed, the four houses that were burnt were no longer abandoned and had been rented to be used as dorms for employees of PT. Unggul," said Mathius Faakhiri as quoted by Antaranews, Friday (28/4/23).

He said that the case of burning residents' houses by the KKB was initially reported by a witness who heard the screams of women near the Honai (traditional house occupied by men).

The witness Abius Kogoya then asked his relatives to get out of the Honai for fear that the fire would spread to his Honai.

"The house that was burned by the KKB belonged to Ronald Sujardi, Atik Ratnawati, Yakop, and Yusup Bangun," he explained.

Honai is the designation for people's houses in mountainous areas, both in the Mountains of Papua, Central Papua, and Papua, whose roofs are circular with cones made of straw.
