Tribratanews.polri.go.id – Bali. The Chief of the Indonesian National Police (INP) General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has issued a directive to the Traffic Corps of INP to take a proactive approach to prevent traffic violations by foreign tourists. This comes in response to the lessons learned from the Bali incidents, which underscores the need for the Traffic Corps to act swiftly and effectively.

The Head of the Public Relations Division of INP Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo stressed the importance of early action, stating that Traffic Corps must not be “firefighters” who only react after an incident has gone viral. Instead, they should take measures to prevent such incidents from occurring in the first place.

He explained that the dissemination of regulations is crucial, particularly in popular tourist destinations. This will help to ensure that they are aware of local traffic laws and comply with them.

“Law enforcement must be humane and not selective. Foreign tourists should feel safe and comfortable during their visit to Indonesia. Police understand that foreign tourists are one of the indicators of Indonesia’s attractiveness that has a positive impact on the economy,” he said.
