The Police Found Kanjuruhan Stadium Safety is Unverified

Tribratanews.polri.go.id - Jakarta. National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo announced that there were six suspects in the Kanjuruhan tragedy, Malang, East Java. One of them is AHL as Director of PT Liga Indonesia Bersatu (LIB).

"The person concerned is responsible for using unverified stadium. They could not met the requirements for making the stadium verified for this year and use the 2020 certification," explained the National Police Chief.

The National Police Chief said, based on the crime scene, PT LIB did not verify the Kanjuruhan Stadium, especially regarding the safety of the spectators.

"Based on the results of the investigation, it was found that PT LIB, as the organizer of Liga 1, did not verify the Kanjuruhan Stadium," said the Four Star General.

The National Police Chief said that the last verification carried out by PT LIB was held in 2020.

"The last verification was carried out in 2020 and there are several records that should be fulfilled, especially related to safety issues for spectators," explained the former Police Criminal Investigation Officer. He adds that there is no improvement on the records of Kanjuruhan verification results.

"In 2022, they did not issued any verification and uses the results issued in 2020 and there has been no improvement to the record of the verification results," he said.

Not only that, the National Police Chief said the team found the fact that there was no contingency plan to handle the emergency situation of the Arema versus Persebaya match. In fact, the audience who came was more than 42 thousand.

The National Police Chief also revealed other suspects, such as AH as the Head of the Competition Organizer, then SS as the security officer. He was negligent and ordered the steward to leave the gate during the incident.

Then, there were the Head Ops of Malang Police, Wahyu, a member of East Java Mobile Brigade, H, and TSA as the Chief Samapta Task Force of Malang Police.

“They ordered the officers to fire the tear gas,” said the National Police Chief.

The suspects were charged with Articles 359 and 360 of the Criminal Code regarding negligence causing death and Article 103 paragraph 1 of Law No. 11 of 2022 concerning sports.
