Indonesian National Police Chief: New Year’s Eve Went Safely

National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowosaid the situation for the 2023 New Year's Eve celebrations throughout Indonesia was running safely and conducively. Although there is a slight disturbance, it can be overcome by the Police.

"The latest monitoring of the situation of new year celebration, in general throughout Indonesia the celebration was reported went well," said the National Police Chief while monitoring the security of the virtual New Year's celebration at the Polda Metro Jaya Headquarters, Jakarta, Saturday night (12/31)

However, he said that there were several areas that have some problems, including South Sulawesi which there was a landslide so that security duties in the South Sulawesi region were focused on search and rescue (SAR) tasks. Papua region was also generally reported to be under control, although There was an attack by an armed criminal group (KKB).

"But everything can be handled. Tonight it is reported that everything is under control. We hope that New Year's Eve celebrations in Papua and its surroundings can run smoothly so that people can have a pleasant new year celebrations," he said as quoted by Antaranews.com, Sunday (1/1).

General Listyo Sigit Prabowo also hopes that the New Year 2023 can bring goodness to all Indonesian people.

"I would like to wish the people a happy New Year. Hopefully we can have a good year, full of hope, full of success, and goodness for all Indonesians," he explained.
