The biggest online gambling practice in North Sumatra was revealed after the North Sumatra Police Chief, Inspector General Ridwan Zulkarnain Panca Putra Simanjuntak, directly led the raid on a house in the elite Cemara Asri housing estate in the early hours of Tuesday (19/8/22).
Currently, investigators have examined 14 witnesses consisting of four employees of the Warna Warni cafe, the head of neighborhood, three security guards, and six suspected online gambling operators with the initials AD, LR, S, RY, EW and CTN.
In addition, hundreds of accounts allegedly used to accommodate the online gambling business funds were also blocked.
Then, North Sumatran Police also worked with related agencies to block 21 online gambling websites that allegedly belonged to BK alias AP.
"The North Sumatra Police are also working with banks to block 133 accounts," explained the Head of Public Relations of North Sumatra Police.
In order to check the flow of online gambling funds, the North Sumatra Police have asked the assistance from the Center of Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis (PPATK).
The suspect have been considered to violate Article 27 Paragraph 2 in conjunction with Article 45 Paragraph 2 of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 11 of 2008 as amended by Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 19 of 2016 concerning Amendments to Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 11 of 2008 concerning ITE in conjunction with Article 55 Jo of 56 of the Criminal Code.
However, until now investigators have not announced who the real perpetrators of the cases even though they already know the operation office belongs to AP.
The Two-Star General had previously given an ultimatum for AP to surrender, but was ignored.
The investigator's call was also not fulfilled by the Online Gambling Boss. "Investigators will again schedule another call for him," said the former North Sulawesi Police Chief.
If the AP does not come to surrender, the North Sumatra Police Chief has threatened to put him on the wanted list (DPO) for the online gambling case.
