Tribratanews.polri.go.id - Medan .Cases of violence and sexual harassment against women and children in North Sumatra has been the concern of the North Sumatra Police Chief, Inspector General Ridwan Zulkarnain Panca Putra Simanjuntak and vows to eradicate them all.
“Violence against women in North Sumatra is still high, although there is a decline on this year," said the North Sumatra Police Chief, in a written statement, Saturday (10/9/22), when receiving an audience from the Deputy Chairperson of National Commission for Women Olivia Salampessy, and Commissioner of National Commission for Women Verianto Sitohang and Rainy Hutabarat.
The audience was held as part of establishing the relationship between two parties while also discussing about the sexual violance against women in North Sumatra.
“We have to be committed in protecting the women and the children from those criminals, one of which is by thinking progressively,” said the Two-Star General.
He adds that the North Sumatran Police also disseminated both the regional police and police ranks related to Law Number 12 of 2022 concerning the Crime of Sexual Violence, as well as preparing and training qualified investigators for sexual violence violations as well as in the use of Law No. 12 Year 2022.
"The North Sumatran Police continue to strive to improve the capabilities of the Women and Children Services unit, one of which is by placing our policewomen to the Women and Children Services unit. The handling of Women and Children Services cases will be handled by the Resort Police and not the Sector Police, in order to accelerate the handling and provide more complete facilities," explained the former North Sulawesi Police Chief.
She hoped that National Commission of Women would provide input and support to the North Sumatra Police in order to resolve the issue.
"Trust me when I said that the North Sumatra Police will work professionally to disclose and complete these cases," said the North Sumatra Police Chief.
