The Head of the East Nusa Tenggara Regional Police (Kapolda NTT), Inspector General Drs. Setyo Budiyanto, S.H., M.H., considered that talking about local wisdom is also talking about cultural identity that cannot be separated from community activities.
Local wisdom can also show an identity, can show the existence of the status of the community.
The display of this local wisdom festival is also at the same time counteracting foreign culture which is increasingly happening in Indonesia. Local wisdom can reduce and manage cultural influences from outside with local culture.
Kapolda NTT conveyed this message when opening the Bhayangkara 76th Anniversary Festival Night at the NTT Police (Polda NTT), Saturday (25/6/22). In front of high-ranking officials of Polda NTT, as well as other invitees, he said that in the past, there was no such thing as local wisdom.
When the fall of the New Order 1998, local wisdom emerged and one of them was held at Polda NTT where participants representing their region presented their local cultural characteristics.
He said, with the display of this local wisdom festival, it could prevent outside culture from getting in so that it could reduce and manage external cultural influences with better local culture, so that it does not affect local culture either in villages or districts in NTT.
According to him, this festival is in line with the theme of Bhayangkara's 76th Anniversary, namely "Precise Police in supporting economic recovery and structural reforms to create a strong and advanced Indonesia".
"I think this theme is appropriate and in line with our activities here, where local wisdom can restore the economy. Because in recent years our economy has been a bit down, and now it is expected to grow again. This means that with local culture such as dance, MSME tourism, etc., our economy can recover again," hoped the NTT Police Chief.
He also explained that this activity is from us to us, which shows that there is pride from each region that he wants to highlight.
The Final Events for the Local Wisdom Competition at the NTT Regional Police level was held at the NTT Police Headquarters Field on Saturday (25/6/22) night.
Other than the East Sumba Police, the finalists in the NTT Regional Police Local Wisdom Competition consisted of the Belu Police, Ende Police, Manggarai Police and Nagekeo Police. Meanwhile, Sabu Raijua Police is the favorite champion.
The Final of the Local Wisdom Competition at the NTT Regional Police in 2022, was organized by the Kupang EO Tribune, and also featured stand-up comedy and acoustic music.
