NTT Police Will Accompany the 12 Victims of Sexual Violence

NTT Police Chief, Inspector General Setyo Budiyanto, emphasized they will accompany the 12 victims of sexual violence by a priest with the initials of SAS in Alor Regency.

"I have conveyed this to the head of the Resort Police and the local government to provide assistance to them," said the NTT Police Chief to reporters in Kupang, Monday (12/9/22).

This was conveyed when the Police Chief talked about the case of alleged sexual violence committed by a priest with the initials SAS in Alor Regency, where there are 12 victims of sexual violence committed by them, and the are possibility that there are might be more than that.

He said that in handling the case, not only punishment to the suspect was applied but also other measures for the victims such as accompanying them.

"There are also recovery steps for the victims so that we can heal the mental damage caused by the suspect," said the Two-Star General.

He also instructed the head of the Alor Resort Police that the law enforcement process should be carried out professionally and procedurally.

He hopes that if the suspect proven guilty, the suspect will be punished with maximum sentence according to what he has done.

Alor Police stated that the suspect was threatened with capital punishment for his actions. SAS was charged with Article 81 paragraph 5 in conjunction with Article 76 letter D of Law Number 17 of 2016 concerning the second Amendment to Law Number 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection into Law.

The suspect was also charged with multiple article because there was more than one victim. In addition to being threatened with capital punishmen or life imprisonment, the suspect is also threatened with imprisonment for a minimum of 10 years and a maximum of 20 years.

He also said that besides being threatened with capital punishment, SAS was also threatened with being charged with Article 27 paragraph 3 of Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions (ITE).

This is because in carrying out the action the suspect recorded his action and took pictures of the victims.
