The North Kalimantan Regional Police Chief Inspector General Daniel Adityajaya, on Thursday (29/09/2022) night visited HA, the victim of a misfire by Tarakan Police, Tuesday (27/09/2022) who was undergoing inpatient treatment at Jusuf SK Tarakan Hospital. The victim's condition is reported to be stable.
"I came to guarantee all medical payment for HA's treatment and come directly to ensure HA gets the best treatment at the hospital," said the North Kalimantan Police Chief accompanied by the Tarakan Police Chief AKBP Taufik Nurmandia, Friday (30/09/2022).
HA had to be treated after being hit by a stray bullet from a member of the Tarakan Police while trying to arrest BG, a wanted person, on Juata Permai Street, Tarakan city, North Kalimantan (Kaltara), last Tuesday (27/9).
On that occasion, the North Kalimantan Police and the Tarakan Resort Police provided compensation to the families of the victims, as well as guarantees for medical expenses which were fully covered by the police.
"Yesterday the victim underwent minor surgery to ensure that no more projectiles were left behind. The Police Chief also asked the team of doctors to treat the victim as best they could," said the Tarakan Police Chief.
Even though the victim's condition is stable, the police will continue to monitor the victim’s health developments for the next few days, as well as provide support to the victim and her family.
The Profession and Handling Division (Propam) of the North Kalimantan Regional Police is conducting an examination in accordance with applicable regulations on unscrupulous Tarakan Police personnel, who are suspected of having a misfire during while trying to secure a wanted person.
The inspection was ordered by the Regional Police Chief to the Propam Division and the Tarakan Police Chief to immediately take legal action against unscrupulous members who made procedural errors in accordance with applicable legal rules.
