Deputy IV of the Presidential Staff Office, Juri Ardiantoro, said that the G20 Religious Forum or Religion 20 (R20) encouraged religion as a source of solutions to create world peace, not a tool of division.

"Through this forum, religious leaders in the world can realign the substance of religion as a source of ethical morals, not as a divisive tool," said Juri.

According to Juri, religious leaders play an important role in creating global peace. Moreover, the world is currently facing difficult challenges.

"For example, currently the Covid-19 pandemic is still very much present. Political tensions occur in various parts of the world which ultimately lead to crises, in whether energy, food, or global finance, still exist. This forum can produce solutions for various global problems, especially in answering crisis challenges," said Juri.

Not only that, he also considered that R20 was proof that Indonesian Muslim leaders were recognized by the world, and said that president Jokowi has succeeded in keeping Indonesia as the largest tolerant and moderate Muslim country in the world.

The R20 Religious Forum was officially opened in Nusa Dua, Bali, on Wednesday 2 November 2022.

R20 was initiated by NU and co-chaired by the Muslim World League (MWL). This forum was attended by more than 400 invitees from within and outside the country consisting of religious leaders, sects, and beliefs from various countries with millions of followers.

The objectives of R20 include preventing identity issues as a weapon, suppresing the spread of group hatred, encouraging honest and realistic discussions within religious communities, and incorporating moral and spiritual values into the strength of geopolitical and economic structures.
