The Expectations of South Sumatra Police to Water and Air Police Directorate

The Head of South Sumatra Police, Inspector General Rachmad Wibowo, stated that waters security must be maintained with a well planned measures and appropriate operational management with a proactive approach. This was conveyed by the Inspector General at the 72th Anniversary of Water and Air Police Directorate at South Sumatra Police Directorate HQ, Monday (12/5).

He hoped that there would be more additional main equipment, such as planes and ships, could modernize and strengthen the militarty capabilities of the water police.

“And so I ask you to keep maintain the quality of the existing equipments,” said the Head of South Sumatra Police, quoted from iNews.id, Monday (12/5).

South Sumatra Police Chief explained that the security in seas becomes an important matter and already caught the attention of the Government. This is also part of the strategic program for the Indonesian Government for 2020-2024 that was referenced in The National Mid Term Development Plan.

The South Sumatra Police Chief then added that he is grateful since the forming of Water and Air Police Directorate in 1950, the unit have gone through a lot of progress in terms of organization, fundings, infrastructures, and also its duties.

“During pandemic Covid-19, we are still able to get some accomplishment in pre-emptive, preventive, and law enforcement, and also operational cooperation with the others. However, although we have accomplish many things, we still have to work harder than before,” he said.

The former Head of Jambi Police stated that the accomplishment of Water and Air Police should be the trigger and momentum for personnel to keep improving.
