tribratanews.polri.go.id - The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemenlu) condemned the armed violence by Israeli security forces against Palestinians at the Al Aqsa Mosque compound on Friday (15/4/22) morning local time.

The Indonesian government insists that such acts of violence cannot be justified, especially during the month of Ramadan.

"This act of violence against civilians cannot be justified and must be stopped immediately, especially at the place of worship of the Al Aqsa Mosque in the holy month of Ramadan," explained the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' official statement on Twitter, Saturday (16/4/22).

Palestinians clash with Israeli police at the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in Jerusalem on Friday. The clashes erupted as thousands of people gathered for prayers during the holy month of Ramadan.

Medics said more than 150 Palestinians were injured in the most serious violence at the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in nearly a year.

The Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in Jerusalem is often the center of Palestinian-Israeli unrest. Clashes at the site last year contributed to sparking an 11-day war between the Hamas group and Israeli forces

The latest violence comes at a sensitive time, with Muslims fasting in the second week of Ramadan and as Christians celebrate the tri-holy Easter.
