Tribratanews.polri.go.id – Cikampek. The Chief of Indonesian National Police (INP) General Listyo Sigit Prabowo highlighted the effectiveness of the government’s appeal to discourage travel during the predicted peak period of the post-Eid al-Fitr holiday on April 24-25

“As seen from our calculations, we have observed a significant 13% decrease in travel volume from the previous number,” he said on Tuesday night (4/25/23) at KM 62 of the Cikampek Toll.

He emphasized that the government’s appeal to avoid or stagger post-Eid holiday travel has successfully prevented an increase in vehicle volume. The appeal has encouraged travelers to return home at different times, thereby reducing traffic congestion.

However, he warned that a simultaneous return of all 203.000 travelers could cause severe congestion even with the implementation of one-way traffic or other engineering measures. Despite this, the government’s efforts to manage post-Eid holiday travel have ensured the public’s safety and prevented traffic congestion.

He also highlighted that the government’s strategy and efforts will help travelers make informed decisions and avoid any inconvenience during the holiday season. The public can avoid potential traffic congestion with the implementation of these measures.”

“Therefore, the public can be well served and we can avoid overcrowding and extraordinary traffic jams which can disrupt the return flow to Jakarta,” he said.

He assured police personnel also have taken the measure to regulate rest areas that may become overcrowded, leading to traffic congestion.

“The officers have made clear arrangements for which rest areas are allowed to remain open during the post-Eid. However, there will also be a policy to close those rest areas that are deemed too crowded and redirect traffic to other available rest areas. The officers on duty will provide necessary guidance and information to ensure that the public makes informed decisions about where to rest without confusion,” he concluded.
