Mount Ciremai National Park officers, assisted by relevant agencies and community elements, continue to monitor the remaining land after being caught by the fire that hit the forest of Mount Ciremai.
It is feared that the fire that has been seen since Sunday, September 25, 2022 in the Maling Street Block will reignite again due to smokes that still appears in the residual point of the fire in Mount Ciremai National Park, Kuningan Regency.
"It's still visible even though it's not as big as yesterday (Monday, September 26, 2022), but it is feared that the fire will reignite and grow bigger because the wind is blowing quite hard," said Tatang Sentanu.
Tatang Sentanu, explained that the wildfires in Mount Ciremai National Park was noticed by the officers and the locals on Sunday, September 25th, 2022, at 12:45 WIB. Puffs of white smoke were seen soaring in an area known as the Maling Street Block.
However, because the wind was blowing very hard, the firefighters and the locals found it difficult to extinguish the fire. To extinguish the fire, the officers together with the local community used everything they can, started from using fire extinguisher engines to using manual methods.
"Since Sunday apart from being done manually, we also use tools or machines. The Ciremai National Park has deployed pumps from the Pasawahan Guard Post, as well as jet shooters," said Tatang Sentanu.
The fire that starts from Maling Street Block had spread to the Cileutik Block, Manguntapa Block, Tegal Bodas Block, Sistack Block, and Dent Rama Block, in the Pasawahan District, Kuningan Regency. The fire quickly spread because of the dry grass that spreads around the area.
Accroding to their plan, on Tuesday, September 27th, 2022, officers from the Gunung Ciremai National Park Office along with environmental activists will again conduct a patrol in the burned area.
"In addition to examining the burned land, because we fear it would reignite the fire again, the officers also carry out an assessment by measuring the burned land and also the possible cause of the fire," said Tatang Sentanu.
