Ex-BMX Athlete Secured After Accompanying Her Boyfriend in Smuggling Drugs

inp.polri.go.id – Jabar.  A former BMX athlete, NS, (27), from Pangandaran, West Java, who is allegedly involved in smuggling more than a ton of crystal methamphetamine, has not been named as a suspect.

Head of the West Java Police Public Relations Division (Kabid Humas) Commissioner Ibrahim Tompo, S.I.K., M.Sc., said that there has been no proof that NS is involved in this narcotics network.

“We have arrested NS, but NS is still under investigation. The information obtained has no connection between the accused and this network,” said Kabid Humas Polda Jabar at the Intelligence Education Center, Bandung Regency, West Java, Thursday (24/3/22).

Kabid Humas Polda Jabar stated that NS was arrested because she was at the location, accompanying her boyfriend with the initials MH (20) who has now been named a suspect.

“The person concerned is the girlfriend of one of the suspects, an Afghan,” said Kabid Humas Polda Jabar.

Kabid Humas Polda Jabar could not answer whether this Afghan is an illegal immigrant or not.

NS (27), a former BMK cycling athlete from Pangandaran, West Java, was detained by the Directorate of Drugs Investigation of Polda Jabar, along with four other people at Madasari Beach, Pangandaran, West Java, Wednesday (16/3/22).

The Directorate of Drugs Investigation of Polda Jabar managed to uncover 1,196 tons of crystal methamphetamine smuggling at Madasar Beach, Masawah Village, Cimerak District, Pangandaran Regency, West Java.

From this disclosure, the police arrested five suspects, one of whom was an Afghan citizen.

The methamphetamine, which weighs more than a ton, is transported by sea.

From the disclosure, the police also secured fishing boats, three cars for transporting, cell phones, ATMs, airsoft guns, and CCTV footage.

The police charged the perpetrators of these drug smuggling with Articles 112, 113, 114, 115, and Article 132 of Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning narcotics, which carries a maximum penalty of death or life imprisonment for 20 years.
