Two members of the Indonesian Army and INP Were Killed by KKB While Securing Tarawih Prayers in Ilu

The Armed Criminal Group (KKB) attacked members of the Indonesian Army (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (INP) who were carrying out security against residents who were carrying out Tarawih prayers in Ilu, Puncak Jaya Regency, Papua Mountains, Saturday (3/25/ 23).

As a result of the attack, three members were injured, and two of them died. The Chief of Papua Regional Police, Police Inspector General Mathius D. Fahiri confirmed this when confirmed by Antaranews.com, Saturday (3/25/23).

"There was an exchange of fire between members of the Military District Command (Koramil) and the Ilu Sector Police (Polsek) who secured the community during the Tarawih prayers at the Al-Amaliah mosque, Ilu," said Mathius D. Fahiri.

The gunfire occurred from 19.30 WIT to 21.00 WIT and caused two members to die, namely Police Second Brigadier Mesar Indey, a member of the Ilu Sector Police, who was shot in the stomach, and Second Sergeant Risawar, a member of the Ilu Koramil, who was shot in the spine and lower chin.

"In addition, a member of the Ilu Sector Police, Police Brigadier M. Arif Hidayat, was shot in the thigh and is currently being treated by the medical team," he explained.

When asked by Mathius D. Fahiri, he admitted that he was not sure which group carried out the attack.

"Members are still investigating which group the perpetrators of the attack came from," he said.
