Tribratanews.polri.go.id – Jakarta. Indonesian National Police (INP) and the Press Council have recognized the importance of strengthening their cooperation in preparation for the 2024 Election. With the proliferation of information in the media during the political year, there is a potential for misinformation or problematic reporting.

During a meeting at the Press Council Building in Jakarta on Thursday (14/3/23), Deputy Chairman of the Press Council M Agung Dharmajaya emphasized that journalistic ethics should be upheld, and corrections made when necessary to address issues related to news information.

INP supports the Press Council’s stance and plans to increase socialization on the matter. The Head of the Public Relations Division of INP Inspector General Sandi Nugroho explained that they will conduct various socialization efforts, including through Forum Group Discussions (FGDs).

He stressed the importance of learning from past conflicts during the 2019 Election and working together to prepare for a successful 2024 Election.

“At the beginning of 2023, the Public Relations Division of INP, along with the Press Council, the General Election Commission (KPU), and the Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu), have already conducted public dialogue to provide enlightenment to the media and the public. Hopefully, the 2024 election will maintain unity,” he explained.
