Securing the Christmas and New Year Eve Celebrations, South Sulawesi Police Prepared Thousands of Personnel

Tribratanews.polri.go.id - In order to improve the security operation of this year’s Christmas and New Year Eve, the South Sulawesi Regional Police deployed 4,840 personnel.

"Thousands of personnel will be involved in a joint operation codenamed Operation Lilin," explained the South Sulawesi Police Chief, Inspector General Nana Sudjana, in Makassar, reported by medcom.id, Thursday (12/15).

Of the 4,840 personnel, 2,429 are police personnel, and 2,151 are from the related agencies. Apart from government agencies, the South Sulawesi Regional Police will also cooperate with religious and community leaders to play a role in maintaining conduciveness at Christmas and New Year Eve.

The Lilin Operation will last for 10 days, starting from December 24, 2022, to January 2, 2023. The Lilin Operation will target places of worship, especially churches, and also crowded places such as markets, shopping centers, and also tourist destinations.

"So, Operation Lilin 2022 is meant to secure Christmas and New Year Eve," explained the South Sulawesi Police Chief.
