Intercept The FMD Outbreak, Joint Task Force of West Aceh Prohibits The Entry of Livestock from Outside

Tribratanews.polri.go.id - Meulaboh. A joint team of animal health officers, TNI, and the police, has temporarily banned and declined the livestock from outside the area to enter West Aceh District in the midst of an outbreak of mouth and nail disease (PMK) in Aceh.

"The ban on livestock from outside the region from entering West Aceh for the time being is to prevent an outbreak of FMD for livestock within the region," said Head of Operations for the West Aceh Police, Commissioner Iswar in West Aceh, on Monday (16/05/22).

The Head of Operations said the ban was the order from the regional government was monitored by the TNI and the police, with the aim of preventing the FMD outbreak in the area. Even though the livestock from outside West Aceh had official documents, for the time being, cattle from outside the district were still prohibited to enter West Aceh.

In addition, according to the existing instructions, livestock from within the area are also temporarily not allowed to leave Aceh Barat.

Previously, the Head of the West Aceh District Plantation and Livestock Service, Danil Adrial, asked the community to stop the supply of cattle and buffalo from outside the area, as an effort to prevent the outbreak of FMD which has now been found in several areas of Aceh.

He adds that to anticipate the outbreak of the FMD outbreak in West Aceh, his party together and the police will conduct inspections of livestock that would enter and leave the area in the border area.

Although they have not found any cases of FMD in West Aceh Regency, his party emphasized that the district is currently in the red zone area.

"Until today, there have been no cases of outbreaks, we need to anticipate this immediately by isolating livestock that will enter West Aceh," he concluded, quoted by Antara.
