Tribratanews.polri.go.id – Jayapura. The Puncak Jaya Police urged to Muslims in Ilu District, Puncak Jaya Regency, Central Papua Province, to perform Tarawih prayers at home following the shooting that left two members of the Indonesian National Police (INP) and the Indonesian Military dead.
“The Puncak Jaya Police Chief has appealed to the residents of Ilu District to perform Tarawih prayers at home to prevent security problems,” said Head of Papua Police Public Relations Commissioner Ignatius Benny Prabowo as quoted by Antara on Monday (3/27/2023).
Based on reports, the fatal shooting occurred when members of the members of the security forces took shelter at a kiosk near the Al Alamiah mosque while an estimated four suspected perpetrators fled the scene immediately, he said.
No worshippers were injured in the incident.
“Of the four people, two were reported to have carried out the shooting,” the spokesperson said.
So far, he said, the police have not received reports about the identify of the group of the suspected perpetrators of the fatal shooting because there are several armed criminal groups in the area.
