Indonesian Military and INP Evacuates 18 Alama Nduga Residents

The Joint Indonesian Military-Indonesian National Police (INP) team has evacuated 18 health workers and residents from Alama District, Nduga Regency to Mimika Regency as a precaution against attacks, threats, or disruptions carried out by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) led by Egianus Kogoya.

“The evacuation was carried out using the EC-725/HT-7201 helicopter from Indonesian Air Force piloted by Major Arif Khoirudin with a rescue team of 6 personnel led by Brigadier General Juintah O. Sembiring,” said Police Senior Superintendent Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, the Head of Public Relation Division of Papua Regional on Tuesday (2/21/23).

He said that after landing at the Mozes Kilangin Timika Airport, the workers and residents were taken to Mimika Regional Hospital for immediate health examination.

“The evacuation process was run smoothly and safely. The evacuated workers and residents are undergoing medical examinations at Mimika Regional Hospital and later data collection and statements will be taken at the Mimika Sub-Regional Police Station,” he said.

He assured that the Indonesian Military and INP will ensure the safety of the community from KKB disruptions. In addition, the health of the community will also always be monitored by medical teams.
