Russian President Vladimir Putin opened up the opportunity to end the war with Ukraine which has been going on since last February. This statement was made by Putin regarding the planned special military operation, during a press conference in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, Friday (9/12/22).

"The process of resolving (the war) as a whole may be difficult and time-consuming. But one way or another, all participants in this process must agree with the realities that have formed on the ground," Putin explained, quoted from CNNIndonesia.com.

The remarks came days after Putin appeared to be preparing Russia for a protracted war in Ukraine. At that time, Putin said his military operation could last for a long time.

Initially, Russia expected the war to last just a matter of weeks, according to the plans drawn up at the start of the war. However, the conflict is now in its 10th month and Russian forces have been on the back foot for several months.

Putin claims his military operations are going according to plan, even though the facts on the ground say otherwise. While saying that his party is always transparent about the information provided to the public.

Most recently, on Thursday (12/8), Putin admitted that an attack on a Ukrainian power plant was carried out by his side. However, Putin blamed Ukraine for starting a trend of attacks on civilian infrastructure, one of which was the explosion on the main bridge between mainland Russia and the Crimean peninsula.

On the other hand, Ukraine disputed Moscow's claim that the attack on its energy facilities was retaliation for the Kerch bridge attack.

Ukraine's defense intelligence agency claims Russian military units have received instructions from the Kremlin to prepare for a massive missile strike a week before the Crimean Bridge attack.
