Indonesian President Joko Widodo Dispatched Their Aids to the Pakistani Flood Victims

Tribratanews.polri.go.id - President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo sent aid worth US$1 million or equivalent to Rp15.1 billion and other basic needs for Pakistanis who were affected by the deadly flood.

President Joko Widodo directly monitored the aid delivery at Halim Perdana Kusuma Air Base, Jakarta, on Monday (26/09/2022).

"As a form of international solidarity, the Indonesian government has provided humanitarian assistance by giving approximately US$1 million in cash, as well as supplies which we will immediately send-out today," said the President of the Republic of Indonesia.

Jokowi stated that the aid would be sent in two phases. In this first phase, Jokowi will dispatch two planes carrying the supplies.

"The first two planes and the next one, will carry the supplies which consists of tents, clothes, blankets, sleeping bags, generators, as well as medicines, and medical equipments," said the President of the Republic of Indonesia.

Not only that, Jokowi will also send Indonesian health workers to help provide medical services for Pakistanis affected by the disaster.

"In accordance with the request from the Pakistani government, we are also preparing our health workers to be deployed to Pakistan," stated the President of the Republic of Indonesia.

He assessed that the floods in Pakistan had a huge impact on the people of Pakistan, ranging from damage to agricultural land and infrastructure, to forcing approximately 800,000 people to flee.

Data as of September 5, 2022, the death toll from floods in Pakistan reached 1,314 people. Meanwhile, 33 million other people were also affected by this flood.
