18 Countries Lined Up to Have a Bilateral Meeting With Jokowi

Tribratanews.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The G20 Summit in Bali became the center of attention of world, and it was said that several world leaders are vert eager to meet the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Retno Lestari Priansari Marsudi, said that 18 countries had proposed a bilateral meeting with the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo at the G20 Summit.

However, the Indonesian Foreign Minister did not want to reveal the list of these countries, but said that United States was one of the countries on the list.

"I don’t really remember the countries asking for bilateral meeting with the President, I think it’s around 18-20 (country representatives). But what is sure is that we will do bilateral meeting with the United States. They said that they are currently arranging the schedule for the bilateral meeting, and said that it was possible that some of the meetings would not be held on the sidelines of the G20 Summit," said Minister Retno at the Jakarta Presidential Palace, Monday (31/10/22).

The government will also give these countries an opportunity to meet President Jokowi at the ASEAN Summit in Vietnam on November 10-13. Others are likely to have a bilateral meeting with Jokowi at the APEC Summit in Thailand on November 15-16.

"In principle, the President really appreciates and is eager to hold meetings with these world leaders," he explained as quoted by CNNIndonesia.com.

Indonesia has been in the world spotligh as they host the G20 Summit. The series of meetings and programs of the G20 itself has been running in Indonesia since November last year. Indonesia will end its term of office by holding the G20 Summit in Bali on November 15-16, 2022.
