Northern Philippines Rocked by a 6.4 Magnitude Earthquake

Tribratanews.polri.go.id – Jakarta.  An earthquake with the magnitude of 6.4 rocked the northern Philippines on Tuesday (26/10) night. Local authorities confirmed that the earthquake had no potential for a tsunami.

The US Geological Survey said the 6.4 magnitude quake was centered 16.2 kilometers (10 miles) below the surface and about 11 kilometers from Dolores on the island of Luzon.

As reported by CNNIndonesia.com, the quake was felt over a wide area of northern Luzon, fortunately the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said there was no major damage.

The Philippine Islands are located on the "Pacific Ring of Fire", an area along most of the shores of the Pacific Ocean where many volcanic eruptions and earthquakes occur.

That Southeast Asian country is one of the most disaster-prone countries in the world.
