Tribratanews.polri.go.id - The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) revealed 11 cases of drug abuse from June to July 2022. From this disclosure, 22 suspects were arrested.
BNN's Deputy of Eradication, Inspector General of the Police, Kenedy, explained that this arrest was thanks to the synergy between BNN, Polri, TNI, and Customs and Excise. According to him, his party is still chasing three people who are included in the Wanted List. "Within one month, BNN has succeeded in disclosing 11 cases of narcotics, with 22 suspects and 3 people on the wanted list," he explained, Thursday (14/7/22).
Inspector General Kenedy,revealed that of the 22 suspects, four of them were still an active member of TNI and Polri. In revealing this truth, he expressed his regret due to the involvement of these enforcement officers.
The four people consists of three TNI members with the initials of MS, BH, and J. Meanwhile, the police officers involved in the smuggling of methamphetamine had the initials of E.
"Of the 22 suspects, there are four active law enforcement officers involved in the illicit trafficking of narcotics, and it is very unfortunate, because law enforcement officers are the front line in eradicating narcotics in Indonesia," explained the Deputy of Eradication of BNN. .
Other than securing the suspects, the Deputy of Eradication of BNN also revealed that his party also confiscated 119 kilograms of methamphetamine and 181 kilograms of marijuana. "So in one month, BNN managed to secure about 3 tons of narcotics," he explained.
For their actions, the suspects were charged with Article 114 (2) in conjunction with Article 132 (2), Article 112 (2) in conjunction with Article 132 (2). Article 111 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 (2) of the Narcotics Law Number 35 of 2009. The suspects are threatened with a maximum penalty of death or life imprisonment.
