The Drug Investigation Unit of the Sleman Resort Police destroyed evidence of methamphetamine weighing 9,944 kilograms from international networks.
Using an incinerator, the evidence obtained from the two suspects was destroyed at the Sleman Police Courtyard, Thursday (22/9/2022).
Sleman Deputy Chief of Police, Commissioner Andhyka Donny Hendrawan, who was in charge, said that the evidence of methamphetamine weighing 9,944 kilograms was the largest drugs that they have confiscated since the establishment of the Narcotics Investigation Unit at the Sleman Police, which was formed in 2003.
"With this 9,944 kilograms of evidence, it is estimated that we are able to save around 20,000 people, if each 0.5 grams could be consumed per person," he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Sleman Police Drugs Investigation Unit, AKP Irwan conveyed that the evidence was secured at Jalan Lintas Timur, Simpang Pematang Mesuji, Lampung on July 21, 2022 ago. There are two suspects in that big disclosure, DGT (26) from Lampung and EK (24) from North Barito, Central Kalimantan.
AKP Irwan continued that from the results of the police investigation, the illicit goods smuggled in Chinese Guan Yin tea packs were supplied from Malaysia. Then enter through Sumatra with the aim to be sold on the island of Java, including the city of Yogyakarta.
