Tribratanews.polri.go.id - Garut. The Garut Police succeeded in arresting two perpetrators of making counterfeit money and foreign currency notes. As for the evidence that was secured, the police confiscated a printing press and counterfeit money that has been forged.
"The suspect made rupiah and other countries' currencies. it depended on the orders," explained the Head of the Garut Police, AKBP Wirdhanto Hadicaksono, in press release regarding the disclosure of the counterfeit money case at the Garut Police Headquarters, Sunday (11/20).
The Police Chief added that the disclosure began with reports from the public regarding the existence of counterfeit money in the Karangpawitan District, Garut. Then an investigation was carried out by the police and arrested one suspect with the initials of A (47).
"Then A said that the counterfeit money was obtained from another perpetrator with the initials of D (50), a screen printing worker in Bandung. Upon arresting A, police found the evidence in a large box containing 23 bundles of hundreds of thousands of dollars and a keris," said the police chief.
Garut Police Chief explained, that the suspect admitted that he had been doing it for one year. The forged money is intended for money fraud. Now, the two suspects are detained at the Garut Police Headquarters for further investigation.
"For his actions, the perpetrator was charged with Article 244 and/or Article 245 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 26 paragraph 3 of Law Number 7 of 2011 concerning Currency with the threat of life imprisonment and a fine of IDR 100 billion," concluded the Garut Police Chief.
