Tribratanews.polri.go.id – Jayapura. The Nabire Police has uncovered the murder of Mawartih Susanty, a female pulmonologist, and named a janitor as a suspect in the case, the Papuan Police Chief Inspector General Mathius D. Fakhiri said in an official statement on Wednesday (3/29/2023).
He said that the police solved the case following the examination of the medical team consisting of the Bhayangkara Makassar Hospital and the Makassar Police Health and Medical Field central forensic laboratory, resulting in matching DNA of the victim in the swab of one of the witnesses.
“One of the witnesses who is the suspect of the case is a man identified as K.W, a janitor at the same hospital where the victim worked. He has admitted his crime,” he said.
The suspect was named following the autopsy and the examination of swabs conducted by the medical team, which was investigated further by the Nabire Police using Scientific Crime Investigation.
“Currently the suspect has been arrested by the police. Based on his statement, his motive to commit the crime was because he felt hurt by the victim’s decision to cut his Covid Incentive Wages in 2020,” the Chief said.
He added that the investigators found evidence, namely the victim’s Sony Xperia 10 cell phone in black color, which was stored in a pillow wrapped in white plastic and placed in a small warehouse on the 2nd floor of the Nabire Hospital.
“In addition, we also found a black skirt with a white spot pattern that the suspect used to cover his face when he murdered the victim, which was stored in the bedroom closet under a pile of clothes,” the general said.
The Chief said the suspect is currently being examined by the Nabire Police. Investigators have been examining whether the suspect committed the crime alone or with others. The police are expected to convey the results to the public,
