Tribratanews.polri.go.id – Jakarta. Drug trafficking via the sea route from Malaysia to Aceh has been a persistent problem in the region, but the efforts of the Indonesian National Police (INP) have once again succeeded in thwarting significant drug trafficking.

On Wednesday (2/22/23), three suspected drug couriers identified as ZA, M, and RS were arrested in a joint operation conducted by the Drug Crime Directorate of INP Criminal Investigation Agency, the Customs and Excise, and the Aceh Regional Police.

“The arrest of the suspects was made possible through the joint operation,” said Brigadier General Krisno Halomoan Siregar, the Director of the Drug Crime Directorate of INP Criminal Investigation Agency on Wednesday (22/2/23)

The suspects were arrested in the act of attempting to transport 200 kg of crystal methamphetamine from Malaysia to Aceh by sea. During the interrogation, the suspects revealed that they were working under an individual known only by the initials R, who has since been designated as a wanted person.

The suspects will be charged under Indonesian Law No. 35 of 2009 on Narcotics, specifically Article 114 Paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 Paragraph (2) and Subsidiary Article 111 Paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 Paragraph (2).
