The East Nusa Tenggara have been able to secure dozens of online gambling perpetrators. This arrest was part of the implementation of National Police Chief’s order in eradicating any kinds gambling.
The Head of NTT Police, Inspector General Setyo Budiyanto said that they initially arrest seven suspects along with the evidence. The evidence includes, seven units of handphones used to acces the online gambling, seven SIM cards, seven ATMs, and six account books.
"The confiscated evidence belongs to the suspects. This is a proof and fair warning to the people that there is zero tolerance for gambling crimes, both conventional and online," explained the NTT Regional Police Chief, Wednesday (31/8/22).
He stated that the seven suspects are players and was arrested when they are gambling. The suspects were detected by the Cyber Patrol Team of the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate who conducted searches on online gambling websites in NTT.
After developing the case, the police found several identities of people suspected of being online gambling dealers with the initials BSY, who is currently being examined.
Total suspect arrested by the Cyber Team from August 29 to 30, 2022 on this case were 13 people from various regions in NTT.
