Tribratanews.polri.go.id - Surabaya. East Java Police Chief (Kapolda Jatim) Inspector General Nico Afinta, accompanied by the Director of Special Criminal Investigation (Direskrimsus) of the East Java Regional Police (Polda Jatim) Commissioner Farman, the Head of Domestic Trade (Disperindag) of the East Java, an Associate Functional Expert for the Infrastructure of the East Java Agricultural Service and the Head of Public Relations (Kabid Humas) of Polda Jatim, Commissioner Dirmanto led a press conference related to the disclosure of cases of misuse of subsidized fertilizers by the Special Criminal Directorate (Ditreskrimsus) of Polda Jatim, Monday (16/5/22)

Inspector General Nico Afinta explained that in accordance with the order of the National Police Chief (Kapolri), all of the Regional Police have to be active in assisting the national economic recovery. And in his directive, one of the orders from Kapolri is to oversee the availability, distribution and price stability of the goods, especially cooking oil and fertilizers.

"We, the Police of East Java, supported by the Agriculture and Trade Offices, are gathering information related to the fertilizer issue. Because we know East Java is one of the largest rice barns in Indonesia. So the availability of rice also depends on the availability of fertilizers," explained the Kapolda.

The team has collected information and investigated the issue from January – April, and in its activities, they have succeeded in uncovering irregularities in fertilizer availability, distribution, and prices.

"We have solved 14 Police Reports with 21 suspects, in the process 3 of them were handled by Ditreskrimsus Polda Jatim. The suspects were arrested in 9 regencies, Banyuwangi, Jember, Nganjuk, Ngawi, Ponorogo, Tuban, Blitar. , Sampang and Lamongan," explained Kapolda Jatim.

The evidence that was secured was 5,589 sacks or 279.45 tons of fertilizer. The way they manipulate the goods is first they bought the subsidized fertilizer, then repackaged the sacks with non-subsidized ones and thus sold it at higher price. Because of the repackaging, the farmers had to buy it at prices ranging from Rp. 160,000 - 200,000 thousand, where the government has actually already set a retail price of Rp. 115,000.

"The second way is selling at the highest retail price, by taking advantage of farmers who really need to buy it. The other method is to trick the officers by selling fertilizer outside the area. Those who were arrested by us is those who plan to send it to East Kalimantan by ship. "explained Kapolda Jatim.
This will continue to be coordinated and investigated with relevant stakeholders where further prevention will be carried out.

“We will coordinate further regarding the RDKK (Definitive Plan for Farmer Group Needs). Because from there we will get an overview of the amount of fertilizer from each district,” concluded Kapolda Jatim.
