Tribratanews.polri.go.id – Jakarta. The Special Task Force of Corruption Prevention of Indonesian National Police (INP) Headquarters in collaboration with the Ministry of Trade held an exposition and destruction of several imported used goods on Friday (17/3/23).

Attended by the RI House of Representatives, Ministry of Industry, Riau Provincial Government, Riau High Prosecutor’s Office, Riau Regional Police, and Customs and Excise, the event aimed to support national economic growth, as stated by the team leader Novel Baswedan.

“We have destroyed 730 bales of used clothes, shoes, and bags with a value of approximately Rp10 billion,” he said.

He said further that importing used goods is illegal and would lead to corrupt practices that would harm the interests of the state and society.

“Imports of used clothing or textiles pose a danger to public health due to the diseases they carry and will also disrupt domestic textile production, ultimately harming the people and the country’s interests,” he explained.

To prevent further damage to society and the country, he stressed the need for consistent enforcement and destruction of used clothing and textile products, calling for support from all parties, including government agencies, law enforcement, and the public.

Team member Yudi Purnomo highlighted the team’s collaboration with the Ministry of Trade to destroy illegal steel that does not comply with Indonesian National Standards (SNI) was aligned with the instructions of the Chief of INP.

“This is one of the INP’s efforts in supporting the government programs for promoting national economic growth. President Joko Widodo has also instructed the INP to take firm action against the import of used goods that disrupts the domestic textile industry,” he said.
