According to the data, the compliance of Indonesians in paying taxes only reached around 50%, which means there are other 50% vehicles in the road who haven’t paid the taxes.

The Director of Registration and Identification, Brigadier General Yusri Yunus said that his party suggest that there should be abolition of transfer fees for motorized vehicles (BBN2) and progressive vehicle taxes. The abolition is aimed to encourage the people in paying their vehicle taxes.

Brigadier General Yusri Yunus stated that according to the data that he have, one of the reasons why there are still many of those who didn’t pay taxes is because they bought the vehicle from second-hand seller and did not change the ownership officially due to how expensive it was. There are also those who used other names in the vehicle ownership data to avoid progressive tax.

“Even there are still many vehicle who used the name of the company to avoid taxes. The tax for company vehicle is very small, and it harms the state. Therefore, we suggest that the proggresive tax to be abolished, so that those who owned cars would be satisfied and wouldn’t use their company name just to avoid progressive tax,” said Brigadier General Yusri Yunus.
