In only a couple of days, Indonesian National Police have freed 34 Indonesians who have been held hostage by online company in Poipet, Cambodia. The high intension coordination between the Cambodian and Indonesian Police made the operation worked smoothly and quickly

The Head of Internationa Relations Division of the Indonesian National Police, Inspector General Krishna Murti, says that a quick response from the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, made them able to rescue the hostages. Under his instruction, Interpol National Central Bureau (NCB) of Indonesian Police was immediately deployed, led by Brigadier General Amur Chandra Juli Buana.

“Under the instruction of the General of National Police, we sent our Interpol NCB, along with the Director of General Criminal Investigation and his investigators to carried out the operation,” said Inspector General Krishna Murti, Sunday (12/11).

The Two-Star General explained that the hostages were swayed by customer service job offering in Cambodia. Hovewer, the customer service they meant is a customer service for online scam company to scams the Indonesian. Feeling disturbed with what they are doing, they asked their company to sent them back home to Indonesia.

“However the company instead held them hostage and threatened them to take their livers if they forced their way to go back to Indonesia,” concluded Krishna.
