Tribratanews.polri.go.id – Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) is taking steps to strengthen surveillance at the country’s maritime borders to prevent the illegal importation of used clothing. This effort is being carried out in collaboration with the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, the Directorate General of Consumer Protection and Trade Compliance of the Ministry of Trade, and other relevant agencies.

“We are continuously optimizing our surveillance at Indonesia’s entry points in collaboration with stakeholders involved in securing waterways and ports,” said Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, the Head of the Public Affairs Bureau of INP on Monday (27/3/23).

In addition to conducting law enforcement against individuals engaged in the illegal trade of used clothing, INP recognized the importance of educating the public on the potential dangers of purchasing such items, both to health and to the domestic garment industry, the spokesperson said.

“We urge the public to refrain from purchasing imported used clothing. By doing so, we can prevent the spread of diseases and support the stability of our domestic garment industry,” he said.
